Aberdeen, MD: The Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA) is accepting nominations for the 2012 MEDA Awards, sponsored by Miles & Stockbridge, P. C., which will be awarded on Monday, April 30, 2012, during the MEDA Annual Conference at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay in Cambridge, MD.
“The MEDA Awards Ceremony is a cornerstone of our Annual Conference and an exciting event for the economic development community,” remarked Kimberly A. Clark, Chair of the MEDA Awards Committee. “The Awards recognize projects, programs, and marketing campaigns that exemplify the best in economic development across our state, and we encourage our members to nominate initiatives that have made a difference.”
The MEDA Awards also recognize the individuals behind the scenes paving the way for success in Maryland’s communities. People who have made significant contributions to economic development may be considered for the MEDA Hall of Fame, Volunteer of the Year, and Life Member awards.
Laurie M. Boyer, CEcD, MEDA President, said, “The MEDA Awards recognize our members for their dedication to economic development, but we also encourage non-members to partner with economic development professionals so that their colleagues, projects, or campaigns may be eligible for nomination.”
For the last six years, the MEDA Awards have celebrated individuals and programs that have attracted and promoted businesses, redeveloped business districts, marketed communities, and supported workforce development and tourism activities. Award categories include: Economic Development Project/Program, Economic Development Redevelopment Project / Program, and the Economic Development Marketing Award. The deadline to nominate a project, program, or individual is November 30, 2011. Submission guidelines and additional information about the 2012 MEDA Awards may be found online at: www.medamd.com.
MEDA enhances the knowledge and skills of its members and encourages partnerships and networking among those committed to bringing jobs and investment to Maryland. Member benefits include quarterly conferences; access to opportunities, discounts, and scholarships for professional development; and participation in awards programs recognizing economic development’s finest in the state of Maryland.
