SUMMARY:RMI and Stanley Black & Decker Talk Manufacturing with Towson University Business Program Students
DESCRIPTION:Joseph Zuccaro\, Lecturer\, College of Business & Economics at Townson University is introducing his “Management & Leadership Principles“ course students to manufacturing through a virtual presentation with opening remarks from Mike Galiazzo\, President\, Regional Manufacturing institute of Maryland (RMI)\, and guest speaker Gregg Chamberlain\, Vice President\, Human Resources Global Operations\, Tools and Storage Division at Stanley Black & Decker. \nThrough Zuccaro’s course\, more than 130 business students are conducting a team-based\, hands-on project analyzing manufacturing companies from sectors prevalent in Maryland: Chemical & Petroleum\, Electronics\, Fabricated Metal\, Food & Beverage\, Leather Products\, Machinery\, Nonmetallic Minerals\, Paper & Packaging\, Plastics & Rubber\, Primary & Metal\, Printing\, Textiles & Apparel\, and Transportation. “Since a majority of TU students are from Maryland and remain in the state upon graduation\, it benefits them to know about the major industries present in the state and the career opportunities they offer\,” Zuccaro says. “It also makes sense to promote these industries and make employers aware of the local\, motivated talent available for their workforce.” \nIn Thursday’s virtual program\, students will hear from Mr. Galiazzo\, how important manufacturing is to Maryland and from Mr. Chamberlain\, will hear how Stanley Black & Decker\, a Maryland-based Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial tools\, is handling a wide range of issues like Covid-19\, technology and recruitment and diversity in the workforce. \nZuccaro’s efforts to introduce his Towson University business program students to the manufacturing industry have earned the University recognition as an RMI 2020 Champion of Maryland Manufacturing and People’s Choice Award winner.
