DESCRIPTION:The BWI Business Partnership hosts and sponsors events throughout the year designed to promote our area\, enlighten members on issues of vital interest to both the public and the private sectors\, and to provide unique networking opportunities. \nOur monthly Signature Breakfast Series features keynote speakers from business and government along with regular updates on the happenings at our favorite airport\, BWI Thurgood Marshall. Due to COVID-19 we have pivoted to our Virtual Speaker Series until safe to gather in a larger group capacity along with our Transportation Think Tank (T3) series \nWe also host and collaborate on forums\, meetings and workshops. Some of the topics include transportation\, commercial development and doing business with government agencies.

DESCRIPTION:The MEDA Membership Committee along with Leadership Maryland is excited to announce our next Virtual Tour on June 24th!  We will be joining the St. Mary’s County Department of Economic Development for a virtual tour of their Airport Innovation District! This event will serve as an opportunity to learn more about a major project underway in St. Mary’s. \nSt. Mary’s County is home to an economic hotspot at the Regional Airport. To fuel the recent trend\, the County has designated the area as an “Innovation District” and created a Master Plan to guide future development and enhancements. The Innovation District is home to research\, academia and innovation facilities such as the University of Maryland Unmanned Aircraft Systems Test Site\, the University System of Maryland (USMSM)\, the TechPort Incubator and more. It is also home to various industries such as Aerospace\, Aviation\, Unmanned Systems\, and Advanced Manufacturing. \nSt. Mary’s County has a unique opportunity to help guide and leverage the development of the area in and around the regional airport to promote research\, foster new technology\, boost new and expanding business enterprises\, and encourage resource sharing and idea exchange through a planned growth effort that includes increased connectivity to existing industry and adjoining neighborhoods and retail space. \nThe St. Mary’s Economic Development Team is excited to provide an in-depth behind the scenes tour! \nThis event is open to MEDA and Leadership Maryland Members only.
