The Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA) is seeking a Membership Manager to oversee all aspects of membership services. This is a rare employment opportunity to play a key role in supporting and growing MEDA’s statewide network of economic development professionals. The Membership Manager will serve as a key partner in planning and delivering conferences and courses and will collaborate with each committee on membership-related functions. This position will be responsible for developing strategies to increase and retain membership, and foster a strong sense of community among members. This role works closely with all committees to ensure a cohesive and high-quality experience for all members. The ideal candidate is a creative and results-oriented professional with strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Key responsibilities:
Membership growth and retention
- Maintain a high level of services for members and consider ways to develop and implement new strategies for member recruitment, renewal, and retention.
Member engagement and communication
- Act as the primary point of contact for members.
- Plan and coordinate member-exclusive events, workshops, and networking opportunities to foster community.
Administration and Conference Functions
- Assist Operations Manager in all planning and implementation of conferences and events.
Qualifications
Knowledge and experience
- 3+ years of experience in membership management, development, or a related field, preferably in a nonprofit setting
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suites
- Willingness to learn new systems such as Paid Membership Pro and Asana
- Familiarity with digital communication tools, including email and social media platforms.
Skills and attributes
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Outstanding organizational skills with a strong focus on detail and the ability to manage multiple projects.
- A creative and proactive approach to problem-solving.
- A team player who can collaborate effectively with diverse staff, volunteers, and stakeholders.
Salary and benefits
- This is a Full-Time remote position.
- Salary range, dependent upon experience – $50,000-$60,000.
- This position does not include employer-sponsored benefits.
- Candidate will be expected to drive to and from all in-person events and meetings. There will be some instances where overnight travel is required.
- Candidate will receive reimbursement for out-of-pocket and travel expenses.
