Economic Development Director

Dorchester County Government

The general purpose of this position is to develop and administer the County’s economic development programs, efforts and activities, as well as to attract and maintain business and industry of all types and to encourage the maintenance and improvement of the quality of life in Dorchester County by enhancing the economic base in accordance with guidelines set forth by the County Manager and County Council.  The position is responsible for overseeing and leading the economic development, redevelopment and projects undertaken by the County and the Department. Work is performed under the guidance and supervision of the County Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Urban Planning, Public or Business Administration or a related field.

Experience:  5 years of experience in economic development, marketing or planning related activities.  

Prefer a minimum of 3 years of experience in local, state or regional government performing economic development activities with 3 years of experience supervising a professional staff.

Prefer a person is who passionate for growth and development in Dorchester County that is a self-starter with a track record for success.

Employee must possess the education, training and experience that can provide the leadership and vision necessary to meet the Required Knowledge and Abilities to be successful in this position.
