St. Mary’s Unveils Agriculture Brand

LEONARDTOWN, Md., June 11, 2025 — The Commissioners of St. Mary’s County announced the launch of the St. Mary’s County Agriculture and Seafood Brand, a key initiative under the Department of Economic Development’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy. Named “Maryland’s AgriCoast,” the brand aims to promote locally produced agriculture, seafood, and forestry products, highlighting the region’s rich heritage and high-quality offerings.

“This brand is more than just a logo—it’s a promise of authenticity and a celebration of our local businesses,” said Chris Kaselemis, Director of the Department of Economic Development. “By creating a recognizable identity for St. Mary’s County’s agriculture and seafood products, we hope to help local farmers, watermen, and foresters stand out in competitive markets, highlighting the exceptional quality of our locally produced products and experiences.”

The initiative seeks to boost the visibility of local producers while driving economic growth by attracting investment and fostering opportunities for value-added enterprises. It also aims to educate residents and businesses about the significance of St. Mary’s County’s working lands and waters, reinforcing their role in the community’s economy and culture.

Development of the brand involved close collaboration with local agriculture, seafood, and forestry business owners, as well as community and government partners. Branding experts incorporated stakeholder feedback to ensure the brand reflects the county’s agricultural and maritime heritage while emphasizing product quality. Businesses have responded enthusiastically, expressing eagerness to integrate the brand into their marketing and product labeling.

The brand launch marks a significant step in the county’s economic development strategy, which prioritizes sustainable growth and support for local industries. By providing a unified identity, the initiative enables farmers, watermen, and foresters to differentiate their products in competitive markets, potentially increasing sales and expanding market reach. The effort also encourages community engagement, fostering pride in St. Mary’s County’s agricultural and seafood traditions.
