Members’ Corner: Karah Lacey

Name
Karah Lacey
About You
I am a wife, mother of two, and lucky enough to have many family members & friends nearby. We enjoy going to the beach, boating on the Pocomoke River & exploring new restaurants on the Eastern Shore!
About Your Work
I am a hometown girl. I love to see my generation & people I went to school with putting hard work & love back into their community through building restoration, business development, volunteerism & overall support. It’s always exciting to meet new people that visit or invest in Pocomoke, Worcester County & the Eastern Shore.
About Your Organization
Pocomoke is known for their Warrior Pride, not only in high school sports, but also the rich culture & indigenous heritage of the Pocomoke. The Delmarva Discovery Museum downtown shows a glimpse into the unique world between the Chesapeake Bay & the Atlantic Ocean. You must come visit their playful river otters, Mac & Tuck!
About Your Current Role
I began my career in the City of Pocomoke 12 years ago as the Downtown Project Coordinator, which has now evolved into the Director of Economic Development. One of my main focuses right now is managing the Main Street Maryland program on behalf of Pocomoke, offered through DHCD. We are currently an Aspiring Main Street & are putting in the work to become a Designated Main Street in Maryland.
About Your Economic Development Journey
As I developed my grant writing skills & learned about all the opportunities through DHCD & other state & federal organizations, it sparked a flame in me to help our local businesses & property owners find funding to assist in making their dreams come true, while also increasing the quality of life within our community.
