Chamber & Economic Development to host Business & Industry Appreciation

McHENRY — The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce and Garrett County Economic Development will present the eighth annual Business & Industry Appreciation at the Chamber’s Business Before Hours on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

The program, sponsored by Clear Mountain Bank and Shentel, will be held in the Lodge at Wisp Resort from 8-9:30 a.m.

The purpose of the program is to recognize the economic development, job creation and investment that is happening in the community.

Keynote speaker is Benjamin H. Wu, deputy secretary of the Maryland Department of Commerce. The program will also feature a recognition of new businesses, growing/expanding businesses and businesses that have hit milestones of 50, 75 or 100 years in operation. Certificates and plaques will be presented to identified, eligible businesses and companies.

The event begins with networking and breakfast at 8 a.m., and the program at 8:30 a.m.

“The chamber is very pleased to be working with Garrett County Economic Development to present the eighth-annual Business & Industry Appreciation to help emphasize all of the growth and development in our community,” said Nicole Christian, chamber president & CEO. “This program affords us the opportunity to recognize those companies and entrepreneurs that are investing in our community and providing jobs for local residents.”

This year, the Chamber and Economic Development will recognize 39 new businesses and four expanding businesses.

“Business growth and development is happening all around us in Garrett County,” Christian said. “It is an affirmation of the thriving entrepreneurial spirit and the continual innovation taking place in our community.”
