ELKTON, MD. – Cecil County’s Director of the Office of Economic Development, Chris Moyer, was recently named one of North America’s Top 50 Economic Developers in 2019, as released by Consultant Connect, a consultant agency designed to bridge the gap between economic developers and site consultants.

Moyer was appointed to Director of Economic Development by County Executive Alan McCarthy in December 2016. Since his arrival, the Office of Economic Development has assisted businesses such as Amazon, Northrop Grumman, Medline, Smithfield, Fortress Steel, and Warwick Mushroom with attraction or expansion projects in Cecil County. The Office of Economic Development also assisted the Town of Perryville with the acquisition of Great Wolf Lodge.

“I am immensely proud of the work that Chris has done to bring new business to Cecil County,” said McCarthy. “Chris is a leader in economic development and works tirelessly to build relationships with business professionals across the country so that they understand the many benefits for their organizations to take root in Cecil County. With each new acquisition, Chris has helped increase our dynamic job base by adding over 3,000 jobs and has brought financial gains to the County in the millions. I congratulate Chris on achieving this well-deserved recognition and look forward to seeing his next accomplishments.”

Moyer, who holds a bachelor of science in Finance from the University of Maryland and an MBA from Loyola University, has more than 20 years’ experience in economic development, technology and financial services.

Economic professionals are nominated for Consultant Connect’s Top 50 list by their colleagues in both the economic development industry and the site consultant community, and are chosen for excellent practices, innovation and success in building the communities they serve.
