Redesigned Anne Arundel Economic Development Website Offers New Geographic DataTools

Annapolis, Maryland – The Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation (AAEDC) has launched a new and improved website that makes it easier than ever for businesses and visitors to access economic data about the county. The redesigned site also brings the county’s major business resources and sectors under one umbrella and offers a responsive design allowing users to access information on any device.

By using the Community Profile infographics tool, users can now find an easy to read overview of Anne Arundel County’s economy and access workforce, industry and community demographic data. In addition, users can visit the “Our Industries” page to better understand major sectors in the county. This business data application includes a map and interactive industry data.

To understand what makes Anne Arundel County unique from other communities across the U.S., AAEDC’s website now features a community comparison tool. Users are able to see how Anne Arundel County’s demographics, workforce, consumer spending and other data measure up against other localities.

“The Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation has access to a host of economic, demographic and industry data from a variety of sources,” said AAEDC CEO Julie Mussog. “We believe featuring these GIS tools on the website enhances our robust research portfolio and makes it even easier to do business in Anne Arundel County.”

The website also brings together the major business partners in Anne Arundel County under one umbrella. These sectors include the City of Annapolis’ economic development office, and the Chesapeake Innovation Center (CIC), the county’s technology incubator located adjacent to Fort Meade in Odenton.

“In keeping with our partnership with the City of Annapolis, we are excited to feature a full section on doing business in the City of Annapolis, complete with its own set of GIS tools,” said Ms. Mussog. “Our new website is also one-stop shopping for technology companies. Entrepreneurs can access information on resources not just for established businesses but also for emerging technology start-ups.”

The site’s technology section incorporates news and programs for start-up businesses from the CIC. It also highlights resources for established cybersecurity companies located in or interesting in moving to Anne Arundel County. The county is home to premier federal defense and intelligence agencies such as the National Security Agency, U.S. Cyber Command and the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).

On Tuesday, November 29 at 12:30pm, AAEDC and its data partner GISPlanning will offer a free 30 minute training webinar to businesses and AAEDC partners interested in learning to use the new data tools. Interested participants should register by clicking here.
