WASHINGTON COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PRIZE PATROL IS COMING TO A BUSINESS NEAR YOU

Business Development Department and businesses statewide celebrate Economic Development Week

Hagerstown, Md. (September 12, 2014) – We want your business to know just how much the Washington County Department of Business Development (DBD) loves you, so we’re planning a celebration  in honor of the Fourth Annual Economic Development Week, October 26 – 31, 2014.

This year we’re taking our appreciation to the next level. With a recent mailing of 7,000 commemorative window clings to businesses in Washington County, we hope you’ll join the fun by placing the cling in your business front prior to October 20.

During Economic Development Week, the DBD Prize Patrol will be on the hunt for those businesses with clings in their window and several lucky organizations will receive a surprise visit along with a sweet treat, a gift card for office supplies and promotion through the DBD social media channels.

Economic Development Week will take center stage in counties, cities and towns throughout Maryland with proclamations heralding the significant projects that have made Maryland a great place to live, work and play. The week is designed to increase an understanding of economic development’s contribution to the State’s business climate, job retention and growth, the tax base and the overall quality of life in Maryland.

Throughout the past year the Washington County DBD has successfully supported expansion and retention projects for businesses in our community including: Baltimore Mack, Duvinage, Freightliner, Wetsuit Wearhouse, New England Motor Freight, Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics and Volvo Group, among others.

Other promising economic indicators include commercial building permits issued are up 28 percent from 2012 and 478 companies in the County have $1million or more in annual sales.
