Why Comcast Commits

As treasurer of MEDA, I’ve committed myself to an organization that supports creating a healthy business climate. As vice president of state government affairs at Comcast, I understand how important it is for our business to support the MEDA Foundation, Inc. That’s why each year Comcast is an Economic Development Week sponsor. MEDA will celebrate its fifth annual Economic Development Week from September 28th-October 2nd.                COMCAST-resized

Comcast values the pivotal role economic development plays for business growth in our state. As businesses prosper, they rely more and more on infrastructure like broadband to sustain 21st century commerce. Comcast is one of the top providers of these kinds of capabilities, delivering products and services that can support business today and have the capacity to grow to meet future needs. Supporting an organization like MEDA is simply a good business decision but more importantly, a special partnership.

Raise Awareness of What You Do

As economic developers you know and care about the work you do to create opportunities and enrich communities, but that’s not enough. Everyone should understand how economic development’s initiatives shape a community.

Do your part to raise the public’s awareness about the role economic development plays in our world. Consider making a proclamation in your community, taking an elected official on business visits, or hosting an event at your organization’s office. All of these efforts impact how your profession is perceived ultimately bringing increased affirmation to your work.

Thank you for heralding the projects and programs you’ve implemented that create opportunities, enrich communities and inspire innovation throughout our state. You are laying the groundwork for future opportunities for the upcoming generations.

Tout what you do. Submit an event or activity you’ve planned during Economic Development Week to Sandy Sponaugle at Sandy@medamd.com. If you’re interested in making a proclamation for your community please click here to find a proclamation template.

To your success,
Sean Looney
