DBED Secretary Mike Gill and installation commanders to address MMIC meeting Results of Economic Impact Study to be released

BALTIMORE, MD (May 8, 2015) – The Maryland Military Installation Council (MMIC) will feature DBED Secretary Mike Gill and commanders of Maryland’s military installations at the MMIC’s meeting on Monday, May 11. During the meeting, commanders will provide updates and Secretary Gill will release the results of an economic impact study of Maryland’s installations, based on Federal Fiscal Year 2013 data. The study was commissioned by DBED and conducted by Towson University’s RESI.

Dr. Thomas Russell, director of the Army Research Lab (ARL), will brief the MMIC on a newly-adopted Open Campus initiative at ARL’s Adelphi Research Center. The ARL Open Campus allows private industry, non-profits and academia to work in a collaborative laboratory environment on the installation alongside DoD scientists and engineers.

Congressman John Sarbanes will also address MMIC members.
