Great Wolf Lodge Sets Sights on Perryville
PERRYVILLE, MD. – The Town of Perryville, in partnership with the Cecil County Office of Economic Development, is working toward the development of a 450 to 500-room Great Wolf Lodge resort. This project will utilize 44 acres adjacent to Hollywood Casinos at Chesapeake Overlook. The project will cost roughly $200 million. Upon completion by summer 2022, the resort is expected to create between 450 and 600 permanent full-time and part-time jobs.
Perryville’s Great Wolf Lodge will consist of an indoor/outdoor waterpark, a family entertainment area that includes a rope course and climbing wall, restaurants and shops. The resort will also include a conference center that will accommodate between 700 and 1,000 people. The Perryville location, with its close proximity to Interstate 95, is expected to welcome more than a half million visitors annually. Mayor of Perryville Robert Ashby Jr. says, “I’ve been working hard to bring excitement to our Town… meetings and conversations I can finally talk about. This is a great opportunity for all of us and only the beginning.”
Cecil County Economic Development Director Chris Moyer credits the town for making the initial contact with Great Wolf Resorts (GWR) and says, “we will continue to partner with Perryville and GWR staff to ensure this project becomes an economic anchor for Cecil County and a driver for the County’s tourism industry.”
Great Wolf Resorts, which operates under the Great Wolf Lodge brand, is a chain of indoor water parks with 18 locations across the country, with resorts in Williamsburg, Virginia and Poconos Mountains, Pennsylvania being the closest proximity to Cecil County. In addition to a water park, each resort features restaurants, arcades, spas and children’s activities. Great Wolf Resorts is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.
Approximately 55 acres at Chesapeake Overlook remain available for future development.
