MEDA Recognition Program
The Montgomery County 3R Initiative: Reopen, Relaunch and Reimagine

The Montgomery County 3R Initiative, a Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation program, began in 2020 and is expected to run through the end of 2021. The 3R Initiative is an ongoing, multi-component $1.5 million public-private funded program that includes placemaking, business support, and community development. The 3R Initiative addresses the future of some of Montgomery County’s most dynamic retail corridors, especially those in underserved and disadvantaged communities.

This community-based project provides financial grants, e-commerce solutions, and technical assistance to support the survival of restaurants, retailers, makers, and artisans affected by the pandemic, especially during the crucial holiday season and critical winter months. Additionally, many 3R Initiative participants were supplemented beyond their direct program grant with complementary financial support from the $16.5 million MCEDC Restaurant Relief Grant program and the $14 million Montgomery County Reopen Montgomery Grant program.
