Announcing: Credit to Capital, A Free Credit Repair and Financial Literacy Program for Entrepreneurs and Small Businesses

Access to capital remains one of the greatest challenges facing entrepreneurs and small business owners. Too often, limited financial knowledge, weak credit profiles, and inadequate financial systems create barriers to securing loans, grants, and other funding opportunities.

To help address these challenges, the Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs), in partnership with TEDCO, have launched Credit to Capital, a comprehensive financial empowerment program designed to help entrepreneurs become capital-ready. This initiative is funded by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and is offered at no cost to eligible participants.

Through personalized coaching and hands-on support from experienced business consultants, participants will improve creditworthiness and build the systems needed to successfully pursue funding opportunities.

Participants Will Receive Support In:

  • Understanding key financial statements, including Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements
  • Improving budgeting, financial planning, and financial decision-making
  • Building and repairing personal and business credit
  • Interpreting credit reports, disputing errors, and developing a customized credit improvement plan
  • Strengthening bookkeeping, record-keeping, and accounting practices
  • Improving the use of accounting software and financial management tools
  • Preparing their business to become lender-ready and capital-ready

Credit to Capital is part of TEDCO’s broader BRIDGE (Business Resource Information, Development, and Guidance Ecosystem) initiative, which was created to help underserved entrepreneurs and very small businesses gain greater access to capital and growth opportunities.
