Maryland Affordable Housing Trust Announces 2026 Awards
More than $5.3 million provided to 48 organizations, the largest amount of annual funding in the Trust’s history
NEW CARROLLTON, MD ( February 2, 2026) – The Maryland Affordable Housing Trust (MAHT) announced awards of more than $5.3 million to organizations working to increase the availability of affordable housing in the State of Maryland. The Trust’s Round 51 Awards for State Fiscal Year 2026 will provide $5,365,032 in grant funding to 48 organizations with demonstrated expertise and experience implementing initiatives that expand or preserve access to affordable housing across Maryland. The 2026 awards represent the highest level of annual funding provided by the Trust in its 33 year history.
“The increased interest and growth exemplified during the Maryland Affordable Housing Trust’s Round 51 funding competition illustrates the demand for more affordable housing initiatives across the State,“ said Alice Pinderhughes, Chair, MAHT Board of Trustees. “The Maryland Affordable Housing Trust Board of Trustees is honored to partner with these grantees and support their efforts to address the affordable housing needs in their communities so that all Marylanders have the opportunity to thrive”.
The Maryland Affordable Housing Trust promotes the availability of affordable housing statewide by providing funding assistance to affordable housing initiatives and activities serving households earning less than 50% of area median income, with preference given to activities serving households earning less than 30% of area median income.
“Every one of these awards brings us closer to a Maryland where everyone has access to an affordable place to live,” said Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Secretary Jake Day. “These investments will help local partners turn vision into action – from self sufficiency and support services to new housing construction and operating assistance.”
Some of the 2026 awardees include:
- Funding for services at Sojourner Place at Oliver in Baltimore City, a community that provides supportive housing for individuals and families exiting homelessness.
- Resources for the Housing Authority of the City of Frostburg (Allegany County) to promote housing accessibility repairs and upgrades that enable local seniors to remain in their homes and age in place in their community.
- Funds for Habitat for Humanity Choptank to construct new affordable homes in the Cardin Way neighborhood of Cambridge (Dorchester County).
- Support for Rebuilding Together Montgomery County’s Safe and Healthy Homes initiative, which funds critical repairs for low-income and extremely low-income homeowners.
The Maryland Affordable Housing Trust was created by the Maryland General Assembly in 1992 to make affordable housing more available throughout the State of Maryland. The Trust is governed by a Board of Trustees and staffed by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development.
